News | Motorola's Moto E gets Lollipop 5.1 Upgrade

Motorola, as they promised, brought the Lollipop upgrade to their cheapest phone in the market. Yes, it is true, and you can see in the below picture also, that Motorola has rolled out their latest update-Lollipop 5.1- to Moto E.

Right now this upgrade is available for Indian consumers. The version is 23.26.2.en.03 and is 364Mb in size.

The upgrade will show up in your device's notification bar. If you haven't receive an OTA (Over-The-Air) update automatically, you can always check it manually. For checking the update manually follow the steps given below, and those who have got the notification regarding the upgrade could follow from step 5 on wards,

  1. Go to the Settings app ( there are two settings apps, one is for Android Settings and the other is for Google Settings, go to the Android Settings app).
  2. Click on About Phone option (it will be at the bottom of the Settings list)
  3. Click on System Update option placed at the very beginning of the list.
  4. Your phone will check for the System update, if it is available then it will show a screen just like above image. Otherwise you will get a message something like this, "Your device's software is up to date."
  5. If your device gets a system update then you will have to download the Update, it is 364Mb in size. Make sure you are on Wi-Fi to download this update file. (It will take a while to download depending upon your Internet Speed, seat back and wait till it gets completed).
  6. Once you download the update, it will prompt you to install it, there will be two options - Install Now or Install Later
  7. Click on Install Now, your phone will restart and go through a series of operations (upgrade). This procedure will also take some time.
  8. Once the upgradation procedure is done your phone will restart and optimize all the system app for the Lollipop 5.1.

This upgrade gives us a strong belief that Motorola could roll out the updates for its medium range flag-ship phone, Moto G (1st Gen and 2nd Gen) in India in recent days or weeks.
